Additional: On a whim: free Dicebox sketch to the first person who guesses what genre/sub-genre Griffen is riffing on in this week’s page. There is a specific term, but a description is fine as well. Either tweet or email. Wood got it.

Precise answer: the Cozy English Mystery. My whim was inspired by discovering that there was an official designation for the murder mystery genre that I’m most likely to listen to while working, either as audio book or streaming from BBC radio.

I had Griffen list many of the key elements that seem to pop up across the genre: charming bungalow/cottage, a collector of nature/antiques, cooking/gardening/homemade wine, the hint of incest, malicious gossip and, of course, the vicar (though a nun will do in a pinch). Others that I couldn’t work in were the children of insane/murderous parents, someone in drag, the lothario or the doctor/scientist. We’ll let Griffen stand in for the scandalous/fallen woman and tea is, after all, about to be served.

It really begs to be made into a card game–or a drinking one.

And here it is!

I’m definitely to a point where I can make Tuesday updates regularly again, and given the craziness of last week, that’s something. My hope is to get the next page up this weekend, but let’s see how the fates play me.
